When Salman Rushdie Visited Kashmir

In May 1983, Booker Prize-winning author Salman Rushdie visited Kashmir, gave a rare interview to Radio Kashmir Srinagar and interacted with students at SP College. Within six years, the publication of The Satanic Verses transformed him from a celebrated literary guest into the centre of protests across Kashmir. Based on rare photographs and newspaper archives preserved by Kashmir Rechords, this feature reconstructs one of the Valley's forgotten cultural stories.
