Donning a traditional Kashmiri Pheran, Runa Laila flawlessly sang Mahmood Gami’s timeless song “Katu Chuuckh Nund Baane—Valo Ma Shok Myane.” Her confident and authentic performance was so perfect that it seemed as if she was a native Kashmiri.

  • To put the records straight , this is to inform all concerned ,that the Kashmiri song under reference was composed by ME and taught to Runa Laila during a few sittings with her in the govt circuit house where she stayed as a state guest .
On the advice of Sh S M Abdullah, Secretary Cultural Academy Mr M Y Taing selected the song and entrusted its composition & production to me.
The song was presented for the first time by the celebrated artist in a live concert at Tagore Hall before a mammoth gathering and was highly acclaimed .
Radio Kashmir recorded her later after the live concert for wider publicity of the song .
N/S Rafiq Masoodi, Qaiser Qalander , Bhajan Sopori and Radio Kashmir had no role to play at all,in its composition & production.
The factual position may please be incorporated in the write up, under an intimation to me .

    • Thanks Jalali Saheb for the valuable information. We request you to kindly share any of such photos linked to the occasion besides the exact date of recording so that the writeup can be updated.
