We have heard actual raining of cats and dogs in England along with rain may be in a storm which gave birth to the phrase "raining in dogs and cats" Another incident recorded in Kashmir history is falling of a slab of ice during a snowfall causing a flood on it's melting. Raining in stones and snakes can be coined for forecasting of s catastrophe.
